Two sisters find themselves in a magical world of supernatural creatures and a book that just might send them on a path to find their destiny.

It is the lack of having supernatural abilities that makes Noelle a non-believer. Anya, her younger sister, believes in almost everything, and tries her best to change Noelle’s view of the world, including reminding her they are part shifter.

It isn’t until one morning during a ride into work with her uncle, the town sheriff, when Noelle begins to question her disbelief in all things supernatural. She has a premonition which sends her and Anya on a quest to find a book that may lead to their destiny. A destiny that takes them through a portal into the Faerie realm.

If you love books about magical faeries, shifters, and werewolves which also includes mystery, action, and adventure then this is the book for you!

One Year Publishing Anniversary

It’s been one whole year since I had published my first novel, Chaos. I decided to do something to celebrate. I lowered the ebook price to $0.99 on Amazon.

I would lower the paperback price, too, but Amazon wouldn’t allow that due to printing cost.

So, if you haven’t been able to download a copy to your Kindle yet, now is your chance. In a few days, the price will be going back up.

Mock Ebook Covers Helps With Motivation

For the past few months, I have been working on a novel that had me stopping now and then. It’s a mystery/thriller – murder, the FBI, a love interest. The idea sounded great in my head yet, I had trouble getting it to come out and onto paper. I pushed my novel aside, and then pulled up another writing project onto my computer and worked on it. I was able to write in spurts. My brain kept trying to focus on that one novel though.

I enlisted the help of a few co-workers. A few of them listened to me as I rambled on about this story I was writing. A few others added their two cents, which was enough to help me push aside my writer’s block.

Later that night, I typed up what I came up with, then stared at the scene after I was done. I re-read the story, hoping something new would come up, but as I read it, it seemed as if part of it wouldn’t make sense in the real world, and my book took place in the real world.

Once again, I pushed it aside and pulled up the other writing project, until I couldn’t write any more on it either.

Pushing my other writing project aside, I decided to try something new.

I read how one author creates her own book covers for inspiration. Though she never uses these covers on her books, as she hires a professional, her self made covers do serve a purpose.

She chooses the model, picks a title for her book, and then puts it all together in a mock photoshop software you can find for free on the internet. She then prints it out and hangs it near her computer for her to see while she writes. Once I read this, I was able to understand her methods. Sometimes it takes visual cues to help get the creative juices flowing.

I tried her method and found that it worked. Honestly, why didn’t I try this before? It wasn’t long that the words started to flow. I could visualize the story playing out as if it were a movie. I even went as far as creating boards on Pinterest; picking out my characters and locations to draw out inspiration.

All these methods have helped me write a better story.

I even went as far as coming up with a second book, but that’s just me, always thinking ahead. Soon the outline was coming into place and I was able to determine an ending.

Now it was time to fill in the story.

Check back to see how far along my story has gotten.

Short book review…Magic, Mystery, A Princess in danger…

Anyone who knows me, knows that I can either be found reading or reading or browsing the book shelves for something good to read. A few days before my daughter’s birthday I decided to go to Toys R Us to buy her a few things. It just so happens that Barnes and Noble is right next door. I don’t come up here often as the traffic is horrible due to major road construction and it’s quite a drive. Since I was by myself I decided to go into B&N and browse.

Since no one is ever with me when I’m book browsing I will tell you this, I take forever! I like to look. I like to look at the History sections, the Science Fiction section, the Fiction section, the bargain sections, the New Released sections, the magazine sections. While I’m browsing my brain goes ADD on me, I’ll find a book and…oh I wonder if so and so has a new book out. I’ll walk over there and see if anything new of that author is on the shelf. Then a few moments later…oh wait I wonder if they have any of those books I saw last time. I walk back over to the Science Fiction area.

I did however pick up three books; one of the Doctor Who books: Hunter’s Moon, Innocent Darkness: The Aether Chronicles Book 1 by Suzanne Lazear, and Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I also bought the latest BBC Doctor Who magazine.

Right now I’m currently reading Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I just saw it on the end cap, either with the new releases or near them…I can’t remember at this moment. It was the cover that caught my eye…that’s usually which book I’ll pick up first, whichever will catch my eye. Then I’ll flip to the back cover to see what the teaser says, if there is one, or look for it on the inside jacket cover. Then sometimes I like to flip through a few pages and read a few paragraphs to see if it’s catchy. When I flipped the book open my finger caught a page and I saw that there was a map of a make believe world, their world for their story. I thought, neat! I liked everything I saw and read.

It’s a Fantasy Fiction. I’m currently in the middle of chapter eight. There are three countries to the author’s world and each chapter switches to each country. It is not at all confusing as it sounds. There is a character from each country that runs into one from another country and so the story blends together perfectly through each chapter, so you’re not at all lost.

If a book bores me, I usually find out within the first chapter…this book is really interesting so far…

What has happened so far… The first two countries are poor and the third country is still prosperous. The other two countries are relying on a prophecy, or magic to come back, as magic has long since died out or has been forbidden. A murder has happened and a princess was involved and now her life is in danger. I don’t want to give too much away. The only thing I hate is not having the time to pick it up more and find out what happens next!

Books about Vampires and Dragons

I love books, I love to read. I spend quite a bit of time at the library. Most of the time I walk out with a stack of books knowing I don’t have time to read them all. When I browse, it’s usually the cover or the spine that catches my eye. I love art, so it’s whatever jumps out at me, will grab my attention. I rarely look at the author, unless it’s one of my favorite authors and I’m specifically looking for. I love new, first time authors.

First I read the back, if there’s a synopsis written, telling me what the story is about, if not I will open the book to the inside jacket cover and read the synopsis there. Sometimes I will read the first page; if the story grabs my attention enough to make me turn the page, i’ll check the book out.

I read all kinds of genre’s, mostly Fantasy; that’s usually what I write. I’m not a huge fan of romance novels. You would normally find me in the Young Adult section, I find a lot of good books there. I had checked one out not too long ago that I would recommend to anyone who reads Fantasy or Fiction. It’s called Firelight by Sophie Jordan. It was an interesting read and hard to put down. I found it unique, something I haven’t read about before.

Since Twilight, everyone has been overdoing the Vampire scene. I’ve seen a lot of Faery books and a few Werewolf books, but Sophie Jordan’s book, I believe might be a first. I could be wrong on this and would love for someone to correct me (kindly though), but her book is about dragons that have learned to evolved into humans, calling themselves draki. They can manifest (shape shift) themselves back into dragon form and back into human form.

She has a second book of her, four book draki series, called Vanish. My name has been added to a list at the library to check it out. I hope you will check it out too.

Another Fantasy, Mystery, Fiction book that I really loved, I found in the Adult section, is a Vampire series by Chris Farnsworth. I started with the second book, Blood Oath. It’s about a vampire that protects the President of the United States through a blood oath. I thought after ten pages I would put it down and not pick it up again; this is before I started reading it, I was wrong. It was actually a really good book. Written really well. I finished the book within a few days and am now on the third book called Red, White, and Blood.

Both of these books are newer books, so they should be in your local bookstore or library. Check them out.
