Hello readers! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here. I’m a junior in college and find it is quite harder than the last few semesters I’ve been through. I have at least two years left before I receive my bachelors degree in anthropology. I’m looking forward to that moment.
Meanwhile, I’m still looking for an agent or a publisher to pick up my manuscript – young adult urban fantasy novel. I had revised it once more, adding over 11,000 words, making it over 54,000 words total. I feel much better about it this time around, than when I thought I had first finished it.
I had started querying agents a few weeks ago and had received a few no’s, but a few of them were really, really good no’s, the type that keeps you motivated in pushing on, the no that makes you realize that agents really do read your query letters, the type of no that has you believe that you’re so close to getting someone to represent your work.
For all those writers out there, looking for someone to represent your work, don’t give up, no matter how many emails you send out. There’s someone out there waiting for you, you just have to keep searching for them.
Four more weeks left in this college semester and I’ve started working on my next writing project.
It’s ‘Hump Day’ or better known as ‘Wednesday’. But right now I’m recalling it ‘Slump Day’…temporarily. This Friday begins my Spring Break and I could not be happier than to be getting a break from school right now. This week I have three essay’s due, one test to take, and three assignments due. Can you see how much I’m looking forward to this break? My brain needs it and I think my body does too.
I’m planning on taking it easy during my week off. The only plans I’ve made, so far, is to take my daughter to the Memphis Zoo. And possibly drive by Elvis’ house, Graceland; a must do while visiting Memphis. It’s a two hour drive from my house to Memphis and it takes at least the entire day just to walk around the Memphis Zoo as it’s quite larger than our zoo here in Little Rock. Little Rock Zoo takes a few hours to walk around and see everything, whereas the Memphis Zoo being quite extensive, compared to ours, takes possibly four or five hours, unless I take the time to see a few of the shows they offer.
All and all, it’s going to be a relaxing spring break spent with my daughter. I know she’s looking forward to it as well. Wishing everyone a Happy Wednesday!
I’m having one of those days…weeks, where I’m dragging my feet, half asleep at my computer. I’ve made a few too many errors already. For example: I get to school this morning, insert my jump drive into the computer, pull up my biology notes and what do I find? I didn’t save them to the jump drive, but I did save them…to the computer…at home. At least I can email the homework to the teacher.
It’s been like this all week for me, little errors here and there. I’m thankful that they are just little errors though. I have been swamped with homework and studying, then taking a break to take care of my little one who is sick again. Every night this past week I have been staying up a little later than I usually do just to get my homework done.
One of the girls in my class realized that we needed to seven more chapters in our biology class. We were both freaking out as it’s our last week before finals; today is our last exam in biology, next week is our finals. I also have two other classes to study for as well. Ah, the life of a college student! 🙂
This semester in Biology has been a big mess to begin with. The teacher couldn’t get the online system to work for us to get our notes and homework; this continued to push us further and further behind. He ended up doing a few labs for us, which had us scratching our heads when it came to do the notes for the homework. All and all I think I’m passing this class.
I think the majority of us are ready for our break, me especially.
